Semester 2
Semester 2: The Second Semester of Geometry is where I feel that I really succeeded. In the first semester I felt that I was kind of just getting by, but now it feels that I am really understanding what I am learning. Some of the topics from this semester are Transformations, Special Triangles, Trigonometry, The Pythagorean theorem and Circles. So far my favorite topic is probably transformations. Transformations aren't necessarily, but they were fun, and actually quite useful in the real world.
Parts of a Circle Art Project
Project ReflectionName of Assignment: Parts of a Circle Art Project
Subject: Geometry Facilitator/Teacher: Description of Work/Assignment: For the "parts of a circle art project" we were tested to create a visual illustration that portrays the 10 concepts associated with circles. The visual needs to be creative and clearly show the 10 parts of a circle, those are center, diameter, radius, chord, secant, tangent, central angles, arc, area and circumference Which 21st Century Skill do you feel this assignment addresses, and why? The 21st century skill that I feel I used the most was flexibility, why? Well there were many limitations that were presented to me which i had to work around, and I feel like that is an example of flexibility What are you most proud of from this assignment, and why? I am proud of my work because I was able to make something that not only looks nice but also works with the limitations that I was given. How did you develop and/or improve upon your 21st Century Skill with this assignment? For this project I often found myself stumped in trying to find something to draw. But I improved on my flexibility skill by working around the limitations at hand What was most difficult about completing this task? The most difficult part of this project was figuring out something to draw that would be able to show the 10 concepts while also looking aesthetically pleasing. How could you improve this work? If you could start over, what would you do differently? If I could improve on my work I would want to colour it more, the reason that I didn't was because I really couldn't think of a color that would fit. How does this relate to what you have learned in the past? I think that it illustrates the skill that I can properly identify the center of a circle and find the area and circumference of a circle. How can you apply this to future learning? I could apply this skill in engineering if I ever need to find the exact center or area of a circle. Semester 1 |
Semester 1:10th grade math is a fun and exciting learning environment, our teacher is Ms. Christine Marsh who has been one of, if not my favorite teacher since I had her back in eighth grade. Our class has blown through many of topics in the first quarter, some of the many things we've learned about are lines, distance, midpoint, angles, angle relationships and we are currently learning about logical proofs. so far this year geometry has been a really enjoyable and fun class, and I hope if we go back to school it could be even more fun.
Reflection on Math:
Logical Chain Story
For this project we needed to create a short story with each line being linked together in a logical chain, we used the example of the popular children's story If You Give A Mouse A Cookie. The 21st-century skill that I used was creativity, writing a story takes a lot of creative power to come up with something, and coming up with a story to link each line together was a bit tough but I feel like I was able to improve on it. on this project I was proud of the story that I created, which was fluent and makes sense, though I was proud of it, it was probably the hardest part of the project. If I could improve my work I would've made my own cover by drawing it instead of just using pictures. This project relates to me writing stories in school and can be used in the future writing stories that are logically connected together.
